City Council Meeting Minutes March 8, 2023

Nerstrand City Council met for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 7:00p.m. Those in attendance in person were Council Members Carrie Turi, Dan Pfleger, Jennifer Schwab, and Mayor Todd Evavold. Other people in attendance were, Public Works Director, Steve McDowell, Fire Chief, Joe Johnson, City Clerk, Dana Jans, and 5 residents. Councilor John Harris, absent.

Roll Call

Councilpersons, Turi, Pfleger, Schwab (joined via phone while in transit to meeting) and Mayor Evavold present.

Approval of Agenda

-Motion to accept the agenda with the addition of the pay equity report, snow removal behind Nerstrand Meats, and clerk training, by Councilor Pfleger second by Councilor Turi, motion passed unanimously.

Consent Agenda

-Motion to accept all consent items by Councilor Pfleger, second by Councilor Turi, motion passed unanimously.

New Business

-Fire Chief requested Council to consider adopting Resolution 2023-03, Authorizing Entering into Joint and Cooperative Agreement for Purchasing of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Motion by Councilor Turi to adopt Resolution 2023-03, second by Councilor Pfleger, motion passed unanimously.

-Motion by Councilor Schwab to contract with CSG for lawn mowing of city properties, second by Councilor Pfleger, motion passed unanimously. Council agreed that lawn sweeping should be done again this spring, motion by Councilor Schwab to use CSG for this work, second by Councilor Turi, motion passed unanimously.

-Mayor Evavold revised the Park Shelter agreement to reflect more of an Air B&B process. Motion by Councilor Schwab to use revised agreement and for council to verify cleanliness after each rental. Second by Councilor Pfleger, motion passed unanimously.

-The tree next to the playground needs to be trimmed to ensure safety to children and families using the park equipment. Motion by Councilor Pfleger to use Cannon City Tree Service who will volunteer their time and equipment, second by Councilor Turi, motion passed unanimously.

Old Business

-Bids received for the 1981 Pumper Truck. Brief discussion on if the bids were enough to sell or if bids should be rejected. Council and Fire Chief Johnson agreed it was a reasonable about to sell the truck. Motion by Councilor Pfleger to sell the truck for $5,251.00, second by Councilor Turi, motion passed unanimously.

Motion by Councilor Schwab second by Councilor Turi to adjourn the meeting, motion passed unanimously.
