Dennison is now home to a Little Free Food Pantry

Dennison is now home to a Little Free Food Pantry, thanks to Christy Whipple, Boy Scout Troup 239 of Cannon Falls and their leader, John Metcalf.

Some months back Christy Whipple realized that people in her community may be struggling to make ends meet. She went to local businesses and grocery stores asking for food or donations. After setting up a space on her property in Sogn she realized the area may not be accessible enough so she came to the Dennison City Council to ask if something could be set up in Dennison. Once that was secured, she needed to find someone to build a little pantry. Boy Scout Troup 239 and their leader, John Metcalf, stepped up to build one and even installed it. It was placed south of the Dennison city hall building, just behind the bulletin board along main street. The citizens of Dennison and nearby communities would like to say Thank You to Christy Whipple, the Boy Scouts from Troop 239 and John Metcalf for their kind and generous contribution! Christy stated "In the spirit of our generous community, I am asking for any cash or food donation to keep the pantry stocked. This is something for the entire community and I believe in helping and caring for our neighbors less fortunate. It is the sign of a thriving community." If you would like to get in touch with her, you can email christylwhipple27@gmail.com.

Anyone is welcome to utilize the Little Free Food Pantry. If you need something, please take it. If you have more than you need, please share. When leaving contributions, please be mindful of the coming winter months. Please avoid anything that may freeze such as liquids. Some suggestions for cold weather items are bread, dry pasta, bar soap, boxed/bagged grains and beans, hot/cold cereals, dried fruit, granola bars, beef jerky, nuts, hats/gloves/scarves, kleenex, trash bags.
